National Champs Crowned

Congratulaions to the U12 All Stars Teams and the U16 Yorkshire Pheonix side who have been crowned Pro Coach National Champions in their respective age groups.

The U12's All Star Team was made up of a combination of players from our Hampshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire Elite Academy Programs and were ruthless on there path to the final where they had to play off against the Pro Coach Senior Side, made up of a combination of players and coaches. In the end the All Stars came out on top!

Despite his team finishing 3rd in the competition Yorkshire's Alex Kennedy was named Player of the Tournament for his impressive display of leg spin as he was the competitions leading wicket taker.

The U16's Yorkshire Phoenix side cruised through the group stage with a 100% record, and despite entering the final with a massively inferior run tally to their opponents, a young and highly talented Derbyshire Falcons side, the Phoenix rose to the occasion restricting Derbyshire to a below average score. The Yorkshire based side then made short work of the target, winning with nearly 3 overs to spare and Captain Tom Beasley picking up 2 trophies for his efforts as he was also named Player of the Tournament, in a near faultless display behind the stumps Tom stood head and shoulders above the rest, alwell as rattling up more than 50 runs without being dismissed along the way.

Congratualtions to our winners, it was a great effort all round from every one who took part.

Finally a special thankyou to all the parents who provided transport, along with encouragement and support throughout... without you none of this would ever take place!!

Pro's Make Ashes Trip

Congratulations to all our coaches who have been selected for this winter's Ashes trip either in the full squad or the performance squad acting as backup. New Pro Coach Record

Congratulations to all all our Pro Coach Academy Members from across the UK, and not to forget those of you who fly in from overseas!! This summer we have had reports of more runs and more wickets than. Checking back through the feedback emails we have received, Pro Coach young cricketers have scored more than 170 hundreds this year, and taken in excess of 20,000 wickets!! Thats an astonishing record, but one we'll be looking to better again next year, as we all now look towards the Winter Academies starting in October.

Notable performances came from Luke Evans who scored nearly 1400 runs this year, and just missed out on 50 wickets, and as a result of which Luke forced his way into the Hampshire Squad! Alsocongratulations must go to Ben Motley who after narrowly missing out on a place in the Derbyshire squad, decided to prove his worth by rattling of his maiden hundred, as the county selectors who hadnt picked him days before watched on in awe!!

Congratulations to Luke and Ben and all our Academy members, but remember, one season doesnt make a career, the winters coming so the hard work begins again soon. See you in the nets...

Sam Lavery, National Manager.

Lawson in Kent move??

Full time lead coach of PCCA Mark Lawson could be about to make a return to the first class game with Kent CCC. Following time with Yorkshire and Derbyshire, Lawson or Laws as many young cricketers from across the UK know him, has spent the past 10 months working as one of Pro Coach Cricket Academies head coaches, as well as being a specialist spin consultant for talented youngsters from all corners of the UK.

Following a succesful string of trial games with Kent which culminated in Lawson take 6 wickets against Pakistan last week, he seems a certainty to be back in full time cricket before long.

"A return to the first class game would be a dream come true for me, i really have worked hard in recent months, both on my fitness and on my bowling and i feel like im now bowling the best i ever have. Working with Pro Coach has also helped, i think i know a lot more about my own game now just through constantly working with other talented young spinners and looking at technique as well as just talking with other high quality coaches on a daily basis, its definately something ill be looking to do as a career one day... i just hope ive got a few more years of first class cricket in me first before i turn all my attention to coaching"

The move for Lawson is likely to lead to the continuing expansion of Pro Coach Cricket Academy into Kent, something Mark has stated he would love to carry on in his spare time should he rejoin the first class game with the south coast club.
